  17. How Do I Maintain My Cadillac?

Cadillac is a luxury brand with classic appeal. Many Cadillac drivers swear by the brand’s reliability and performance. The company was founded in 1902 and purchased by corporate powerhouse General Motors in 1909.

In 1919, Cadillac sold almost 400,000 vehicles worldwide, which is a brand record. They produce many models of vehicles including sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and roadsters, and have a super broad appeal because it has one of the cheaper price points for a luxury vehicle.

This lower price point allows a broader selection of customers, which might leave you thinking that a Cadillac might be just the right choice for you.

Cadillac has an average annual repair cost of $783 when all of its models of vehicles are considered. This is expensive at way more than the industry average of $652. Yes, it is expensive to maintain a Cadillac. This is because all luxury vehicles are more expensive to maintain. Being made in smaller batches, the parts for repairs cost more as well.

Older Cadillacs

Are Cadillac CTS Expensive to Maintain?

Cadillac CTS will cost you around $663 in maintenance and expected repairs, on average, per year. This is pretty close to the average of all car models, and more than $100 less than Cadillac’s average, making the Cadillac CTS fairly affordable to maintain.

Are Cadillac CTS V Expensive to Maintain?

The CTS V has a V8 engine as opposed to a V6 engine in the regular CTS models. This will make the Cadillac CTS V slightly more expensive to maintain than the CTS because the engine is more complicated.

However, this will only be a slight difference, so the Cadillac CTS V is also pretty reasonable in price to maintain.

Are Cadillac SRX Expensive to Maintain?

The Cadillac SRX is a more expensive vehicle to maintain, coming in at around $703 per year, which is well above average for the industry, but pretty close to inline with the average for Cadillacs in general.

Are Cadillac XT5 Expensive to Maintain?

The Cadillac XT5 is not expensive to maintain at all being far below both the industry average as well as the normal average cost of annual maintenance and repairs for Cadillacs in general.

The cost on average for maintenance and repairs on a Cadillac XT5 is only $305.

Are Cadillac Escalades Expensive to Maintain?

Cadillac Escalades are a very expensive model of vehicle to maintain. Their average annual cost for maintenance and repairs is more than $1000, making it significantly higher than the industry average as well as the average for Cadillacs overall.

This is largely in part due to the fact that most SUV models come with a higher maintenance price point.

Are Older Cadillacs Expensive to Maintain?

Generally speaking, older Cadillacs are not expensive to maintain compared to other makes of vehicles. This is because Cadillac is a GM product which means it’s parts are interchangeable and not highly priced.

Even in the cases where there may be a Cadillac specific part, you will not find the part difficult to locate or particularly high in price.

There is an exception to this rule. Cadillacs made between 1982 and 1987 (especially 1982 to 1984, when some improvements were made) have an engine that has been found by many to be problematic.

It is a 4100 V8 engine. This engine has an aluminum block with iron heads and is not as durable as other Cadillac engines of other years are.

Is it Expensive to Repair Cadillacs?

Repairing a Cadillac is expensive. Like other luxury cars, the parts to fix your Cadillac will cost a bit more. However, because Cadillacs are a General Motors product, in some cases this may make parts interchangeable, cheap, and easy to locate.

Of course, as with all things, it will depend on the specific circumstances and what your repair will cost. Here, we take a look at the most common issues with these popular models of Cadillacs and how much it costs and average to fix them.

Are Cadillac CTS Expensive to Repair?

The Cadillac CTS can be pricey when it comes to repairs. The most common problem in a Cadillac CTS is a failed steering wheel position sensor or the passenger seat sensor.

Either of these sensors going out will cost you around $200 to $500 in repairs.

Are Cadillac CTS V Expensive to Repair?

The main difference between the Cadillac CTS and CTS V is the engine. Because the V8 engine is more complicated as well as not as common, this will make any repairs to the engine more expensive than repairs to the regular CTS.

Repairs not related to the engine would be similarly priced to those in the CTS.

Are Cadillac SRX Expensive to Repair?

The Cadillac SRX is fairly inexpensive to repair. You will find one of the most common problems in the Cadillac SRX to be the steering wheel position sensor isn’t working.

If this happens to you, it will likely cost around $230 to $275 dollars to fix, which is less than a comparable repair in the Cadillac CTS.

Are Cadillac XT5 Expensive to Repair?

The Cadillac XT5 is not expensive to repair and has a lower maintenance cost because the model is generally more reliable than most.

To keep it in great shape and reliable to you everyday, you will need to have regular maintenance done, which will include things like tire and wheel assembly rotate and balance service.

This service will likely cost around $100 and should be done a couple of times per year.

Are Cadillac Escalades Expensive to Repair?

Cadillac Escalades are expensive to repair. Most SUVs are expensive when it comes to repairs because their parts do generally cost more.

The most likely thing you will need to fix in your Cadillac Escalade is your inside or outside door handles as these are commonly known to break. This will cost around $220 to fix, according to Your Mechanic.

Are Older Cadillacs Expensive to Repair?

Older models of Cadillacs are not expensive to repair. One of the nice things about automobiles made by the General Motors company is that many of the parts are interchangeable.

This makes fixing an older model a lot easier. The parts are well known for being inexpensive and most of the time, easy to find as well.

Are Cadillac Parts Expensive?

Yes, Cadillac parts can be very expensive, sometimes ranging into the hundreds of dollars if not more. You may be able to save some money on used parts or if you are dealing with an older model of Cadillac (one made before 2000).

No matter how you look at it, even if you do manage to save a few dollars, Cadillac parts are expensive compared to other vehicles throughout the auto industry.

Are Cadillacs Reliable?

As a rule of thumb, Cadillac is considered to be a very reliable brand of the automaker.

While the actual rating will depend on the specific vehicle in question, Cadillac vehicles are almost always assessed favorably by auto industry ratings and standards. Repair Pal rates Cadillac as above average when it comes to reliability.

What is the Cheapest Luxury Car to Maintain?

According to Autobytel, the cheapest luxury cars to maintain are Lexus. Cadillacs fall somewhere towards the bottom of the scale for luxury car maintenance prices, but are still above those of standard cars.

How Do I Maintain My Cadillac?

Like any other piece of equipment, your car needs fuel and regular maintenance. Part of a good regular maintenance plan is taking care of repairs promptly as they arise.

Driving a vehicle of any kind when there is a known problem is dangerous and very likely to make the problem worse. Even if routine maintenance for your car is expensive, not having it done will cost you a lot more in the long run.
