Renting a refrigerated truck is a straightforward process. Once you settle on a rental company, all you must do is make a reservation and pick up your vehicle. You can make your reservation online, over the phone, or even in person.

What Do I Need to Rent a Refrigerated Truck?

Certain requirements must be met to be eligible to rent a refrigerated truck.  Most companies require that you be 18 years of age or older to rent a vehicle, though some have the age limit set to as high as 25 years old.

A valid driver’s license is required. A CDL is not a requirement to rent most refrigerated trucks, though for some of the larger trailer models it might be. You can expect to pay a deposit, so a valid form of payment is also required.

Ryder Refrigerated Truck Rental

If you choose to rent your refrigerated truck from Ryder, you can expect a straightforward process with minimal requirements. Ryder requires two forms of ID when making a reservation and a deposit. No CDL is required if the vehicle you are renting is less than 24,200 pounds. One thing to keep in mind is that Ryder requires all renters to have or purchase renters’ insurance before taking a vehicle.

Ryder Refrigerated Truck Rental Cost

Ryder currently has three refrigerated truck options to choose from. The average daily price for a 16-foot refrigerated box truck is $230. If you need something bigger, they offer a 22–26-foot refrigerated truck for an average daily price of $260. Should you only require the trailer, you can rent one for an average daily price of $140. The average cent per mile offered by Ryder is $0.25.

Enterprise Refrigerated Truck Rental

When renting from Enterprise you can expect some additional requirements alongside the usual valid driver’s license and valid payment method. Enterprise requires all renters to be 21 years of age or older. They also add an underage surcharge to your total bill for all renters under the age of 25. This surcharge totals $25 a day.

One thing to consider when renting from Enterprise is that they require all renters to have a balance on their credit or debit card equal to the reservation fee plus $350. The money will be held until the vehicle is returned.

Enterprise Refrigerated Truck Rental Cost

Enterprise currently has three refrigerated vehicle options available. The average daily price for a High Roof Refrigerated Cargo Van is $175. The cargo van has dimensions of 143” x 76” x 55”. If you need something a little bigger Enterprise offers a 16′ Refrigerated Box Truck for an average daily price of $205. Lastly, there is a 24′ Refrigerated Box Truck for an average daily price of $230.

 The refrigerated box truck models are not as widely available as the cargo van, so you should call and check with your local dealership beforehand. You can also expect to pay an average of $0.49 per mile.

Hertz Refrigerated Truck Rental Cost

Reserving a refrigerated truck at Penske is a simple process. All they require are two valid forms of ID and a major credit or debit card on file. Reservations can be made online and paid for using their payment system.

Lastly, if you have some substantial space needs and your cab, they offer a 53-foot refrigerated trailer for an average daily price of $160. You can expect to pay around $0.30 per mile for any of these refrigerated vehicles.
